My wife and I returned this week from a couple of months in the desert. It was great meeting up with good friend Bob Karcz in Arizona even if we could not find any flowers. Here is a sunset from January 23rd out at the Superstition Mountains. This image was made with my back up Nikon D-100 because my D2Xs was in the shop.

On March 9th I was looking everywhere for flowers and found a few next to Highway 60 east of Phoenix. This was an early morning shot with the saguaro backlit. As you can see, not many flowers.

Finally, I spotted this little flower entwined in a pencil cholla cactus. I am trying to identify the flower. Help please. :) These were the only flowers that I commonly saw in the desert though there was nothing close to a concentration of them. I also observed a good number of saguaros that had been blown over as a result of the soft soil and wind. Walking through that desert after the rains was similar to stepping on a sponge. It's good to be back.
Those are all really good, but 3 and 4 are exceptional! Superb shots, Ron.

Great series!
#'s 3 & 4 are exceptional, but I love the lighting effects on #1. Burning down the bright sky below the clouds would be an asset here, IMO.
Hope your camera is OK. Welcome home!

I really like the soft, evening light wrapping around the cactus in #1.

The selective focus in #4 is very, very appealing. Strong image! But everyone is right - excellent light you've captured.
