Sandhill Cranes Day 2
This morning was FREEZING cold...about -2F. Not sure how much snow fell the night before, but would guess somewhere between 8-10 inches of snow. I still decided to get my butt out of the hotel at dawn and make it out to the Monte Vista WLR. The sky was blur and clear and lots of fog coming from the ponds. Here are a few. I have soooo many shots to still go through (haven't even looked at the shots from this evening yet) and I am still here through tomorrow morning.

This first one hopefully shows the chaos of these birds early morning. Also realized the first shot needs a slight CCW rotation....up too late.

All very cool, but I sure love the corrected version of that first one. Great mood shot!

Where'd you stay, Kurt?

Kurt- great shots! I will be doing this next week at Grand Island, Ne.- can't wait for the cold, windy weather predicted. Looking forward to more of your shots.

Great collection! We hope you weren't out there in your Bermuda shorts. T'was a bit colder than Georgetown. The corrected shot would make a beautiful B&W.

Another fine series, but that corrected version of the flock is outstanding!
Kudos for hauling your butt out of bed on this wintry morning...you were well rewarded. :toast:

Way to be there when you need to be! Great shots! I agree that the corrected version of #1 is the most appealing of this group.

I like the atmosphere captured in the first image!

You captured the helter skelter atmosphere of early am take off very well in #1. The teal looks like it spent the night in a freezer.

You are a master with that long lens. Love the duck taking off. Great eye.

I prefer the corrected version of #1, it has me studying near and far.
