Whilst making the most of my three month tour which is drawing to a close we spent the weekend with a few old friends some 500,000 Sandhill Cranes in Nebraska. Still -8 but the subjects are entertaining and a challenge. I was trying to work on flight shots presentation whilst introducing some variation.
Canon 1D3 Canon 800mm tripod mounted. Small crop RAW to LRM the PS4 to resize for web.
Sunrise this morning grey cloud with early sun just appearing.
Sorry this one don’t work for me as its too light to be a silhouette and too dark to give the birds any detail

Hi Matt & Ian
I see what you mean about seperation. Two points came to mind when I went for the shot and they were the fact the birds were flying towards me nine times out of ten they are flying away or veering away so its a butt shot. The other being the light a dull start with just a glimmer of sun, which I tried to use.
The following hour or so produced far more this was just the start.
Thanks for looking and the comments.

Sorry Barry but I'm afraid I have to agree with Ian regarding the first image. Personally I prefer the 2nd one but it's a shame that the wing tip and feet are clipped on the bird on the left.

Jeff
Thanks that's why I posted the shot I was seeking opinions and comments. I clipped the wing and feet trying to give space to fly into I need to re work that one.
