Sandhill Cranes - Day 3 (Last Day)
Spent my last morning photographing my new fiends (the cranes). yes it is COLD again, but well worth the effort. These cranes are so much fun to watch. Here are a couple more.

Beautiful shots of some magnificent birds. Nice pose in that second one.

More nice stuff, Kurt, especially #2. May I ask what lens/camera combo you're using?

Sure Todd, I was using a Canon 1D MIV and a 500mm, sometimes with a 1.4 tc

Great shot of the landing.
They are fun to watch - at least when your fingers and toes aren't numb.

Kurt, was that you that Jared and I ran into down there yesterday? We ran into a couple guys with 400 and 500mm lenses and we said hello as we pulled out.

Man, if I had that set-up, I'd probably stay down there for days on end, too! With my limited range, my options were so much fewer than yours, didn't make sense to hang around and gaze longingly at birds I couldn't get a decent shot of. You made that gear work! Great shots, I've enjoyed the serial posts from your trip.

Yeah I hear you Todd. We only spent one morning down there and I felt the exact same way. Just didn't have the right setup to capture the shots. Hopefully I got a few shots that worked like yours.. I will see when I get a min to sit down and process a few. Here is to wishing for a nice super telephoto.

More really good stuff! I also especially like the pose in #2, but #1 is right there with it.

Kurt, Wonderful images as usual. I'm thinking of heading down there Thursday with Dave Bartlett. Are we too late?
