Stepping Out (start of pheasant season for me)
Spring colours to some mean daffodils and crocus's, to me they mean pheasants, kings of colour and great fun to watch.

EOS 1D2 (still my camera of choice even though it's now 2 generations behind)
400mm
f3.2
1/500th
ISO400

Beautiful detail. Do the colours of pheasants change during the year? I have never seen one with these colours - or are Scottish ones more colourful

I have been working with these myself lately. They are such stunning birds. This is a cracking shot John, you've caught the light just right to bring out those iridescent colours.
Maggie - there are loads of different strains and the range of colour schemes is consequently huge; different keepers often prefer particular strains hence, they may be similar within an area, but totally different on the next estate.

A very elegant pose and you got a much nicer BG than I managed with mine. Tail might be a tad tight on the left but it's a gorgeous shot with all that colour!

Fantastic colours John. Agree it's a touch tight on the left, but still a beauty :toast:

Excellent photo, John, fantastic colours and a pose that looks like he knows it. Have to agree with others on the composition to the left being a little tight, other than that really works for me.

regards

Heath

He's handsome - one of yours?

As a standalone image, yeah, space on left... but for a cover, perfect positioning and plenty of useable space.

Very nice, I trust we will be seeing more (but at the right size :) )
