I tried searching for Big Sur and got nothing. Derrick was kind enough to help me out with links that he knew of.

I tried BIG SUR, "Big Sur" and Big Sur. Nothing worked. Is this a software glitch?

Looks like 3 letter or less words aren't recognized. A lot of search engines/databases do this on purpose to make the searches more efficient (they don't index anything shorter than 4 letters).

If you put the search in quotes, it should recognize it as all the letters. Oh well.

I've had the same problem several times searching in these forums and finally gave up on it.
Could just be me but I don't have a problem anywhere else.

Rodney - All quotes do in this case (I think - I'm guessing a bit) is force the search engine to return results only where the components of the search appear together in that order. I don't think it actually will search for the whitespace as part of the phrase, since the index it uses is still only words longer than 4 letters.

In the case of putting it in quotes, it will just find the individual words and see if they are adjacent. Since the component words in your search aren't indexed in the first place, it still has nothing to look up.

I believe David is correct - and it makes sense. Not very efficient to index words like, if, is, the, and, to, of, a, i, me, etc. etc. I did a search on "red" - nothing. "reds" lots of results. Unfortunately "Big Sur" falls through the cracks.
