"Everything that can be invented has been invented."
Charles H. Duell, Commissioner, U.S. patent office, 1899*

Mr. Duell, meet University of Toronto professor Ted Sargent.

My favorite paragraph:
"Just by virtue of having our detector on the top surface, we get a 2X increase in sensitivity — the holy grail of the industry. Beyond that we have changed the materials too — our quantum film is twice as efficient at absorbing incident light for another 2X improvement, for a 4X improvement overall."

*no, Charles Duell apparently never said that. It's a longstanding urban legend.

Sounds like we could see some dramatic changes in Cameras in the next few years. Does this mean that we will have ISO 204800, 409600, 819200 and 1368400? It would rock to say I shot this at ISO ONE MILLION!

Thanks Todd. That was a great read.

It's nice to see something with the potential for being revolutionary, not only for photography but also many other applications.
