Resting Pochard
Taken a while ago, I thought I might post this, as 'Ducks' seem to be 'in season' at the moment LOL.

I liked the way it rested it's head with the feather creeping over the bill, without it I feel it would even more boring

As this was free to fly anywhere I guess this is still 'Wild'.

It has a like of wistful look about it, a contemplation, and a seeming nonchalance indicted by the position of the feather over the beak.. very nice.

That's a good image ! Head to the right where it shouldn't be  but the eye looking left (well nearly )!
If I had to be really picky - and why not, I would darken the bottom right a little.

Great stuff !
PS I just copied it to my C drive and I see no WM ! So there !

Nice "duck" Steve as you say they do seem to be in fashion at the moment, and why not they are such lovely photogenic creatures.
As ever the exif tells the story.
If it is wild as you suggest it won't be winning any of the big "wildlife" competitions only captive can do that these days LOL

A very contemplative look, and indeed the feather makes it. Good one :toast:

Thanks everyone, appreciate the time to comment. :wavey:

Calum, it's a fine line people tread with Wild & Captive for comps, however, I do feel it's down to their conscience and good judging that will stop this happening. BTW I gather the Norwegian Blue is in the running this time, bought from a very nice boutique in Andover.

Lovely portrait Steve and lets hope that people's conscience extends to ticking the box that is now on the bottom of the international/national nature competitions which state that the image you are submitting is wildlife. I will certainly be introducing this to the RPSN comp next year but pleased to say that with experienced selectors they tend to spot them a mile off because the habitat may be wrong if showing. Sadly though it may never be eradicated. I think a lot of us recently have been subject to it.
