I got a chance to shoot three guys doing a little surfing at a wave on North Fork Cadron creek yesterday afternoon. I had a lot of fun doing it and I may try to visit a few more of the popular paddling spots this year. The guy in the one man canoe flipped his boat trying to surf the wave. In his defense it was only his second time in a one man canoe. He did quite well on his second attempt.

Hey Matthew,
Nice shots and yesterday was a great day to be out playing on the river. I have been a little distracted lately working on updating my American Canoe Association whitewater instructor certification so these pics are timely. By the way, we call that "one man canoe" a solo canoe but I kind of like you one man canoe description.
If you really want to get some good action shots of paddlers, the Arkansas Canoe Club has its annual Canoe School on the Mulberry River the first weekend of May. There could be up to 300 boaters camped at Turner Bend with paddlers on all parts of the Mulberry. Another option just about any weekend day that the Cossatot River is running over 3 feet on the gauge there will be numerous paddlers on the river. The Falls area is a prime spot for photography.

Thanks for the info Tom. I have heard solo canoe and one man. Running shuttles (in Guy) for people I get to here all kinds of neat words for boats and since nobody corrects anyone, ignorant me just picks up on them. What are those "float on top" things, ya know like a kayak but they got holes in them?
Thanks John
