Gull take off - slow shutter.
Taken from a boat in Norway - yes that boat!
EOS 1D3, 300mm, ISO 100, 1/30th at F16.
Slow shutter selected for effect on water and wings.

This one works well for me Phil, the balance of the blurred wings and sharp head is great and the blurred spray adds a bit more :toast:

This does work well but a little clockwise rotation would stop the bird flying down-hill..

Kind regards,

Brett :toast:

Well caught Phil but it doesn't quite work for me. It would have been better if the bird was coming towards you at an angle so that the wings were either side of the head. Still, it's not a bad shot of a subject you have no control over. :toast:

Very artistic and sharp where it needs to be-my kind of image

I really like this pano.I agree with Brett's rotation and maybe a crop off the right hand side, behind the furthest splashes.

"Eagle is coming.........." God, I can hear him in my head now

Bretts hit the nail on the head with the rotation, otherwise pretty much spot on Phil :wavey:

Agree with rotation but other than that I like this one very much.

I would like to see this full size and a touch more room on the right. Nice picture.

I always enjoy this type of image which is showing more than just a static shot.

A very effective image and good to see experimentation - I must really try and think more about this sort effect.

Hi Philip,

I like this one as its sharp where it counts in the head and eye. Agree that it needs a bit of CR.
