Spring has Sprung
Winters OK, but isn't it wonderful when spring arrives and things start blooming? I spent part of yesterday at the Crystal Springs Rhododendron Gardens in Portland. I spotted these Early Blue Violet blooms hidden under some rhodies. Fooling with a new lens and getting use to the very short DOF, and I like it in this image with only a lower petal in focus.

I see your macro lens arrived. Nice job on this one. I like how those inner follicles catch the light.

Ah, Craig! Isn't macro FUN? I use the Nikon version and feel like I have more fun than is possible to have! I like this shot very much. The detail is right where it should be, and I especially enjoy the graceful curve of the stem above its flower. Color couldn't be better. I hope you post this over in Flora; it'd be a hit. And I'll look forward to seeing more from you and your new macro lens. :jump:

Nice shot Craig. I love the comp with the repeating shapes.

Very nice, Craig! Isn't it a nice lens? That one stays with me.

Craig, excellent image. I thought that 600 was super-glued to your 7D?!?

That does look like a nice macro lens. I may have to beak down...must resist...

I like the soft focus and dreamy feel of this with the sharper center. The colors are quite extraordinary too.
