Nuthatch nest building
Spent an enjoyable couple of hours watching a pair of Nuthatches flying in and out building a nest in the hole in this tree. Unfortunately it was quite high up so am suffering from a stiff neck.

Hi Maggie, well done spotting this bird building. :toast:

Yes, well spotted indeed. I wonder if setting the bird further to the left so there is less tree may make the trunk less dominant perhaps?

Was just commenting this morning that the nuthatches on my feeder set up have been completely absent this year.

Well spotted and taken Maggie, a pity it was so high up - it will be interesting to see if you spot the youngsters later on! :toast:

One has to suffer for one's art so I am told Maggie   Still by the look of this image it was worth it IMO. Then again I haven't got a stiff neck.

They are doing the same over here-maybe a pop of flash to help balance the foreground against the bright sky

Maggie

I agree with DB the trunk is dominant, still a very nice bird.

good advice from Dave B and Dave C, so worth a return visit with a flashgun and a step ladder  Still a nice behavioural shot as it is.

Thanks all. Dave C a flash might have worked well if as Matt said I had taken a step ladder with me
David T - I suffer one way or the other every time I go out photographing
