Here in red squirrel country,in the Scottish Borders, these are arguably public enemy no.1.Still photogenic little fellas though.

There is a small crop from the bottom and right.

Yes they are photogenic, yet they flatter to deceive, IMO. For the sake of our reds they should be controlled. It is a shame as they are a joy to watch. I like the balance between the gnarled branch and the subject indulging in one of its favourite pastimes.
It is a lovely picture Phil. The squirrel is in a classic pose, the background is good and the props delightful. And yes, they are great fun to watch, we have several which come to our garden and at this time of year it's great to see them chasing each other through the branches. However, I have to admit that if I were in an area where reds were present I would be shooting these with something other than a 300mm lens.

I like the way the gnarly bit of wood on the LHS is almost mirroring his pose.
But yes, now you've got the shot, get the .22 out and show him you mean it.
On my laptop-uncalibrated-there is a small yellow cast so will have to look on the big screen later, Was the broken twig there to protect his modesty Its a very nice portrait on a lovely log, I would bee inclined to tone the bright grass? between the squirrel and the log but apart from that its a cracker

Delightful setting indeed and a super image - I too detect a slight yellow cast.
