Northern Wheatear

Hi all,

My first migrant image of the year, lots of these along the Severn at the mo. Sorry to all you bird on a stick haters out there, I'm sure you'll get over it  !

Advice and critique welcome.

Cheers,

Lewis.

Our feathered friends are not really my thing, but congratulations on your first migrant of the year. :wavey:

Sorry Lewis, but is it me, or does it look a little odd against the BG?

Yes, almost looks as if it's been pasted on! Great shot, though. Not seen one yet this year.

Ha ha, I predicted this response, nothing has been done to this shot bar normal processing (levels, sharpening etc). The bg is a grass field.

Cheers,

Lewis.

Hi Lewis,

first off its not bird on a stick its a bird on a post and if thats where it landed then I see no problem with it.

Lovely shot :toast:

I too have not seen one this year either.

Nice image of this Wheatear on a very typical (for them) perch; I like it!

Good to see them back on a typical post.

Cheers

Agree with Craig but as you seemed to expect,it does look like a cut out.But it's still cracking.

it's not often that we say it, but this one probably suffers from the background being too uniform. I remember having similar trouble with a grasshopper shot last summer. No matter what I did to it, the background looked wrong because it was too uniform. That nit aside, this is a great shot. Lovely pose and perch.

Yeah, thanks guys, I won't be uploading shots with such a "perfect bg" in future through fear of the image being classed as fake. Lesson learnt. Quite sad really, but a sign of the times I guess with heightened suspicion lately and software capabilities. I actually still have this file on the cf card in my camera, if anyone still has a problem with the image then I'm quite happy for you to pm me to discuss it further.

Cheers,

Lewis.
