Barn Owl Tyto alba perched on a wooden fence post in pouring rain, out hunting in daylight. I've been gagging to get a Barny on this post for months, that it arrived in rain made it all the better!

Hi Nigel,

Having extra elements always improves an image IMHO. The post, the rain, the spiders web all add well to this image.

I might remove a little off the bottom, above the barbed wire.

Cheers

Very atmospheric image with a great combination of elements. As a fan of old weathered fencing
I like it just as it is.

I left the wire in deliberately because it shows the post to be part of a fence and not a purposeless post (i.e. a prop)!

Love it. The rain soaked wood and the spider's web had that extra something to an excellent portrait.

Great shot :toast: I love these kind of images - it's too often said that barn owls won't hunt in the rain or snow, almost implying that they're too delicate. Truth is they're just sensible and don't hunt if they don't have to! If they're hungry though they'll hunt in any conditions - they're hardy critters and this shot proves it.
Well done. Love it!

Lovely image Nigel but would prefer a little more at the top and a little less at the bottom. Just personal preference. :wavey:

Lovely shot Nigel, as has already been said, the web and falling rain really add to the shot! Nicely done.

Cracking shot.Owl,post, web, rain, super. My only slight nit would be the lighter top right sky .I wish it was like the top left. But that is very minor.

it is strange what a difference the cobweb makes - it really does add to the image. A great shot, full of atmosphere.

Hi Nigel,

I really like this shot I don’t have a problem with the crop as there is enough detail in the web and post to make it intresting.
