For anyone in southwestern AZ looking for wildflowers, Ajo Highway just west of the Kitt Peak road (Hwy 386), is especially plentiful with poppies and some lupine. The area around mile marker 125 is VERY rich with poppies, as is the area just east of (and through) the town of Sells.
The wind kind of hampered things a bit, but I'll post some of my shots when I get a chance to look at them on the laptop.

Looking forward to seeing your images Bob. What I'm seeing from here, ESS and the Cali forum seems to indicate the poppy season is now in full swing. Thanks for the report.
I'll be in the Tucson area about 4-16th. Thanks for the report.

Here's a photo from the area of mile marker 125 on Ajo Hwy that will give you an idea of the density of the poppies. (When I get home I'll work on the "good" shots).
Also, on the north end of Tucson, on Picture Rocks Road on the west side of the pass there are also lots of poppies. Park at the first lot after going over the pass from Wade Road.

Thanks Bob. Reports from Catalina State Park are also positive.

I've heard that Bill. I haven't been able to get up there (and probably won't on this trip )

Thanks for the report, Bob. Just to add a little to what you've said (I'm down here right now as well), the Bartlett Lake area northeast of Phoenix has a nice mix of flowers (including poppies) right along the road. I'd also confirm that Catalina State Park has a few nice areas worthy of checking out. The best area there is along a spur trail about 3/4 miles down the Sutherland trail. That's been the most spectacular area I've seen so far. There's also a some nice concentration of poppies about a mile south of Redington on the east side of the Santa Catalina mountains.
