in the absence of other insects in my garden, I'm still photographing ladybirds This one is on a daffodil. When using flash the challenge with ladybirds is to minimise reflections given how shiny they are. I was quite pleased with the light on this one, although possibly a tad dark for some.
Canon 5D with MPE-65 macro lens, f11 (or thereabouts), 1/160, ISO 50, 2 diffused flashguns on side brackets.
Excellent Matt. I'd prefer it I think if the ladybird was a little brighter, perhaps if the dominant flash was coming from the left?? Hard to sort it out when they're on the move. I like the background and having it inside a daff is ideal in this respect.

The detail gets lost at 720 pixels so here's a 1100 pixel version.
All C+C welcomed.
Matt

BIF as well. Excellent image.
PS I've answered your question in Dichotomy.
Lovely background as well.

You're right Tim, in that the dominant flash was on the right. No matter how I set it up, the insects alway seem to be facing the wrong way.

Hi Matt,
Another cracking macro! The larger version is very impressive. Looking forward to more.
