Steve Sighting
I never post here any more, though I lurk at times. And I seldom post photos at all because of a slow dialup back home in Alaska.

But this is a special occasion!

Far out in the dunes of White Sands National Monument last night, who should come walking up but Steven Peckham!

Great conversation, great location and great light. Who could ask for more?

Lots of photo ops at the time, but the attached photo is so different than "typical," I figured it was the one to post after an unusual meeting.

Hank, this is beautiful! I wish you'd post more.

Love the pastels and the soft lines of the dunes, great shot!

Thanks folks. I'm adding one more, but will leave the rest for Steve. He was great company, and nabbed plenty of shots of his own. This was taken right at sunset about 20 minutes before the previous one from the same spot, looking about 90 degrees further north.

Oh, what the heck. Here's a snapshot of Steve at work.

I always love to see more of these flowing dunes. Very nice soft light.

They probably remind you of snow drifts back home.

Fabulous work, Hank. #2 is incredible.

I really like the mood and color of light in the 1st one especially, Hank.

Both are just excellent, with #1 being extra special. Great comp, as I love vertical palettes, and the pastel colors are wonderful.
Steve, way to get down and get funky with that tripod.

Hank, good to see you posting here. I can't say enough about that first image - sublime color palette and composition.

Steve is everywhere--kind of like God  You'll run into him in the oddest of places...
Cool shots, Hank, my fav by far is #2--totally killer!

Great shots....like the subtle colors of #1, but #2 is fantastic! :toast:

Beautiful photos (well the first two... ). I love the simplicity and subtle color gradients.

Really good meeting you there Hank. Really nice shots in the first two. You sure took advantage of the light to get the layers of dunes. Maybe I can get around to processing my shots later this weekend.

As for the third, it is the kind my wife likes. She would say it has that Je Nous Se Qua, but not all would agree.

Looking forward to seeing into you again one of these days.

Both the landscape images are very elegant-there's a softness to them.

BTW Steve-

We were lucky there was a breeze that evening. I went out again the next night and the gnats were BAD! Kinda surprised me to find them in March. Fortunately I had a little bottle of bug dope in my kit, but I got bit half a dozen times before I caught on.
