Great stuff - I love the licking of the chops. If you could have shot this from even lower, it might have been even better.

Hi Guy, see you have got to grips with the 7D, how are you finding it?

Good to Mr Fox, were you with Edwin? Happy with the POV, comp and the snarl really adds to the image. Having the dark shadow area in the BG really lifts that lovely red coat and brings it out very well.

We really are getting some superb fox images on the site this year. This is up with the best of them, although I do agree with Tim about the pov.

Another really nice fox image, haven't seen one for a long time around here so I do like to see a good shot of them :toast:

nice to see you posting again Guy. I like this a lot, that is one mean looking fox. Very nicely captured. A slighltly lower POV may have been even better but still a great shot.

Hello and thank you for your comments.

To Stephen I'm afraid the 7D as now gone. The focusing on this camera has been the worst I have ever come across and is the main reason why I have gone quite, as I have not been able to get many good shots lately. The focusing was never consistant in one shot and in AI servo never hit its target once. I changed it for another one and this sorted the problem out on the one shot and did produce some very nice images, but the AI servo would work fine on subject flying past you. But would totaly ignore any subject flying straight at you.

I really regret selling my 50D to buy this camera as it was reliable and performed really well for a mid range camera.

I dont want to run the 7D down as I have read other people rave about them, but this camera as lost me a lot of good images never mind the days lost.

Cracking shot Guy

the snarl really give it bite

Much better than my backyard scruffy urban fox.

Love the snarl and seems your efforts paid off eventually despite camera issues.

Hi Guy,

Super shot! Foxes really look great in snow. I sympathise with your 7D problems as I had the same. I hope you get a reliable one soon.

Cheers,

Lewis.

Great capture, I love the look in its eyes, which you wouldn't have got if the POV was any lower.

I love foxes and this is a terrific portrait of one in great light. As a matter of interest,is it a snarl or is it chomping on some grub?

Hello Phil.

Your going to ruin the feel to this image now, but has you have asked and I feel I must be honest, your thoughts are right and it was eating some apple that gets put out for the deer by some locals. I have seen the fox their before and couldnt belive my luck when it did turn up.
