Siberian wall flower.
shot with, yep you guessed it 300mm f4 with 1.4 extender.
I am getting ready to submit this for a contest and wondered what you all thought of it?. There is a larger version in the flora gallery.

Wade,
I really like the BG and overall sharpness of the flowers I now you wanted that blown out BG and accomplished it quite well, however, for me I'd probably like to see just a tad more sharpness in the leaves. Did you shot this at F8? I bet the BG (with that 300mm lens) wouldn't be a whole lot different and there would be more definition in the leaved.
You might want to try Nik Software's sharpener where you can sharpen points using their U-Point technology.
One other nit is to crop out that little yellow spot (pollen???) on the leaf just right of center).
BY no means is this image not a really good one.
Let me know how you make out.
Regards,
Jack

The flowers are certainly pretty, but the stick in the top right is distracting as is the yellow spot on the leaf in the bottom center. I might crop about 1/3 off the bottom leaves and maybe some on the left side as well. I think this would help keep your eyes focused a little more. Good luck with the contest!
It's mostly been said above, but I would clone the stick to the right, the pollen spec on the leave, crop very slightly from the bottom (to remove the parts of the truncated leaves that are oof, and then maybe (I'm using a non-calibrated laptop, so take this with a grain of salt...but maybe??) play a little with color temperature. I know the foliage is a blue green (and background is a yellow green) but I feel like it's a little bluer than it should be.

Same as above...if you want a "balanced" pic, get rid of the stick.
I suggest cropping to center up the image a bit better. It appears to me to be a bit too far to the right. Include the suggestions above and you have a keeper!

This is very nice Wade. I don't have anything to add, but agree with the suggestions above. Hope you do well in the contest.
