For those of you in RMNP who don't make it over to ESS very often, I thought I would share with you my take on the epic sunset from the fall of 2005. I had originally setup over at the Dyke, but then anticipating a break in the clouds I headed west hoping to improve my chances for some good light. It was an incredible experience!! This is a 2 shot 4x5 pano that I finally processed.

That is E-P-I-C! I would lobby for doing away with that ugly patch of dirt in the LLC, though. It tragically draws the eye right to it.

Terrific light in this shot Jon! Love the added bonus of the double rainbow....it really sets off the colors

Great shot John - liked the light and the double rainbow.

I wonder what the new CS5 content aware could do with that patch of dirt! I really like this image...loads of color and the rainbow is a killer. Congrats!!

Jack, that was my exact thought too!! I would really like to fill it in with grass. Thanks for the feedback everyone!

Two 4x5 transparencies?? This should be enlarged up to billboard size! Or at least big enough to totally cover my office wall.

I bet experiencing it in person was something special, indeed. Thanks for giving the rest of us a small taste.

Fantastic light and a rainbow to top it off, great shot. I would probably crop the bottom slightly and then clone the grass in on that left hand corner to cover the bare ground spot. Nice work.

Very nice use of pano. Light, colors and composition are exquisite.Take Todd's counsel on the wee patch in left front corner.

I remember that sunset! I was all the way over by Marcellina when the show started -- like you I just pulled of the road and shot from the back of my truck. Your shot is way better than mine turned out, what took you so long to process it!

Looks like you found the pot of gold. Great image!

Paul, did you make it to the same area for the show. I remember there were only 2 other people there. The delay in post-processing was the cost of having to get a program that could do a good job with the stitch. Not shooting digital, I don't stitch many shots.
