This Indiana boy is going to be in Killeen this weekend and then in Austin next week. I have the Photograph America newsletter on Hill Country wildflowers but was hoping for some more up to date recommendations and information. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mike,
I was in the Marble Falls area week before last and the bluebonnets were showing up everywhere. I would think that by now you should have really good conditions. There are several websites that have current sighting info, such as this one:
http://www.lone-star.net/wildflowers/sightings.htm or
http://www.texaswildflowerpictures.com/update.htm
The Texas DOT website has a map as well.
My understanding is that they are expecting a really good year this year, so you timed it well.
Good luck (and post some pics for us to see).

When they're good Fredericksberg, Burnett area is alway good. Brehem is another favorite spot that I have. Chamber of Commerce in Fredericksberg has always been honest with me about real conditions.....others may just blow smoke up your butt to get you there...call them. Joe Rogers

Right now the wildflowers are amazing (the best in many many years) between Lytle, Natalia, and Devine and over to Poteet (just southwest of San Antonio.) I drove down there from Austin on Monday evening for some photography and it was worth the 2 hour drive.
The hill country west of Austin (Llano and Mason) will most likely be the best this year - but peak will be ~ April 9-16th.
I'll help in any way I can. I'll be heading back down there for sunrise on Saturday morning.
Good luck!
