I found this nicely lit Redbud one afternoon at the old Columbia schoolhouse. I really liked how the side lit tree and grass contrasted with the darker brick wall and the white window frames. I tried several different compositions, using my viewing card, and finally decided I liked this symmetrical composition the best.

Well seen! That sidelight works well to make that tree standout and give the image just enough depth. I wish all the curtains were just like the window in the URC... I like the contrast of that setup. Good stuff!
Very nice all the way around, Preston. The contrasting colors works very nicely too. I assume you used the grid to make things straight on the sides here, it just feels optically tilted very slightly. Eric made a good observation about the curtains as well, but obviously that is no deal breaker at all, just a housekeeping item no doubt.

Your thoughts are always appreciated.

The symmetry provided by your choice of composition is lovely. I specially like how the tree is partially obscuring the lower windows. Very nice!
BTW, since this photograph is about strong lines and symmetry, what are your thoughts on fixing the slight parallax distortion along the long edges?
Best regards.

I was pretty careful to align things on the ground glass, but, with my old eyes...
I'll peek at the tranny. if the lines need to be adjusted, I may be able to do this in PS with the vanishig point tool.
