I've been spending some quality time in Lightroom 3 beta 2. At first I was rather disappointed in the new noise reduction and sharpening tools. But I persisted one evening and finally got it figured out.
In LR 2.X if one had a clean image (say ISO 200 or lower depending on the given camera...) no luminance noise reduction was required. In LR 3 beta 2 one needs to add some luminance noise reduction to all ISO levels. Seems rather counter intuitive to me... If someone else has a different method I'm all ears folks!
So here is a B&W conversion I did for a rose I shot awhile back that was processed in LR 3 beta 2. Overall I am VERY pleased with the changes/improvements that LR 3 beta 2 brings!! I just needed to set aside my old paradigms from LR 2.X...

Very nice B&W! My only suggestion would be to open up the shadow in the very center just a bit.
