I planned on spending a few days backpacking in the northern area of Anza Borrego (Coyote Canyon) shooting the wildflowers, but the bloom wasn't as good as I expected. So after spending the night in Cougar Canyon, I decided to head south and explore the wind caves of Carrizo Badlands. I didn't really know what to expect, but found this overlook of the badlands to be a pleasant sunset surprise.

Great view, it goes on forever. Those mountains on the horizon must be very far away, but just like the rockpile in the fg they are in focus. Great work.

Great light, Eric. I like the way that you composed for
the curvature of the rock strata.
I love the s-curve leaning into the frame, and the light only adds the to depth of the image. I can't help but think a small (I stress small) crop off the top would enhance that depth and the other features I love about this shot.
