I took this last Wednesday before the big rain. I had water spots and my back pack was out in the open. I went back Sunday, but the light was not in the cave during the early morning, and I had a pleasant surprise in meeting Drew Resnik. I would appreciate any critque as to what this needs. I am prepared to start over until I get it right. You will probably suggest some time spent in class with Tim Ernst. . .
I think this might be a stronger image if the waterfall is more predominant. Perhaps you can crop out some of the cave walls on the sides and still retain the feeling of being in an enclosed area looking out. And more water in the falls would of course also help it stand out more. I like what you've started with though!

Likr this one alot. The shadows and framing really give it a sense of being there. although I might crop in slightly for a square comp.
i agree with the others as well. i really like that you've got that one wall on the right side that picked up some light - provides a nice lead into the scene. same on the left side. cool spot and great image.

Per your comments, maybe this is better. I do feel that my DOF loses detail of the falls area. Perhaps I will stop down more next time if I can still catch the light on the cave walls. Thanks so much.
Jan, I do like this one better. I think the viewer intuitively gets that you're back in a cave or crevice, and the waterfall shows up a lot better. I think the detail in the waterfall area is pretty good. The sweet light bouncing off the black rock in the foreground (left and right) is more noticeable too.

He was in fact hiding in the cave and jumping out scaring out of town photographers! Good to meet you jan, i like the way you are looking for a new take on a classic place :)
