Canon 5D with MPE-65 macro lens, f9, 1/160, ISO 50, diffused flashguns on side brackets, taken at 5x magnification, full frame. Focus stacked from 3 images.
Absolutely stunning detail Matt. Lighting is excellent and overall a marvellous image. The drop of water on the eye really adds to the overall interest.
This is amazing! The detail is stunning, very well stacked! Being really picky, just a few spots at the bottom of the frame and in the top left of the bg that could do with removing.
Austin, I stacked these images 'manually' in PS by blending layers. In the past I've used CombineZM stacking software but now find it easier to do it by hand in PS. Thanks for your comment.
A stunning image when I look at this it's like an image within an image, the head being the main image but then the eye and the droplet of water composed in the manner you have is the second image for me,hope that makes sense Matt, stunning

You have captured a very fine image here Matt, you can see every facet of that compound eye, an excellent piece of work.
Andy...
What stacking software have you settled on?
Cheers

You're making me restless to get going with macros again. Never had much luck with stacking though...
