Sandhill Cranes of Nebraska
Had the opportunity to photograph the sandhill migration in Grand Island Ne from the blinds at the Crane Trust. Cloudy and rain til the last morning for sunrise- 100,000 cranes sitting on the sandbars of the Platte river before flying off to feed in the cornfields. 80% of the sandhills migrate thru this area with about 500,000 present during this time- the sounds of the cranes with the sun coming up is an experience I will not forget.

They're both great. The first one I'd crop to vertical, putting the sun and bird in the center of the horizontal frame. The second one -- WOW! Maybe crop off the super-oof stuff at the bottom, but again -- WOW!

Wow indeed. #1 and #2 are both super cool. I agree with both of Todd's cropping suggestions, or maybe even turning the first one into more of a rectangular horizontal taking off some of the sky and bottom. Nice job!

Some fantastic work here Bob. Must have been a sight to see. Congrats.

I bet that was noisy! Sweet sunrise. Great pose in #2.
I've had Grand Island on my ToDo list for some time.

Definitely a wow! All have a lot going for them, but I like #1 the best. The silhouette above the setting sun. The warm colors. The line of birds below... Well done.

Oops! Looks like I was too quick on the trigger. I love that third one! Looks like a sequence shot, like that pano I posted a few weeks back. I'd lobby for "inventing" a little more room above that one wing (helloooo, CS5!), but that's it.

A great collection Bob.

A fine collection, indeed! You really scored here. Not just with images, but being at this place during this time.
Todd's advice sounds good to me, too.

I think this is a fine collection too! Todd's suggestions are all good and will probably make these even stronger.

Nice work, Bob! I like all of these, but #1 is my fav. I too like Todd's crop suggestion, but I also like #1 as is for a more environmental image.
