First of all, congratulations to Jim and Donna for making and keeping NPN the best nature photography site on the Net for the past 10 years. For them, it's a labor of love, but it's still labor - so thank them both when you get the chance.

Before I get to this month's superb selection of articles, I want to direct your attention to the Cover Image by Danny Green. This evocative image of a grey seal pup in a sandstorm is simply brilliant. Thanks for sharing, Danny, and congratulations!

Our first article is from the publisher of NPN, Jim Erhardt. Jim reflects on Ten Years of NPN and offers members an opportunity to share what NPN has meant to them. Yes, that means you!

Next, the twisted, fertile mind of Ian Plant offers up a version of Charles Dickens' classic in A Nature Photography Carol. Here, Ian revisits nature photography as it was ten years ago when NPN was created, where it is now, and where it's going - tongue planted firmly in cheek, of course.

Darwin Wiggett examines the changes in how nature photographers deal with contrast during the past ten years in Taming Contrast in Landscape Photography: The Tools We Used Then and Now.

In celebration of NPN's ten years, Samantha Chrysanthou offers - you guessed it, Ten Timeless (and Maybe Unorthodox) Tips for Better Photographs. There are some great ideas to consider here.

And Alain Briot completes his four-part series on Composing With Light with its final installment. I Hope you all enjoyed all four of these articles as much as I did.

Thanks to all of you members for making NPN the success it is and thanks to this month's contributors. Enjoy this edition and enjoy the spring weather as well.

Cheers!

Richard

Richard, a superb job as usual!

As per your suggestion, we have also created a 10 Years of NPN Gallery for our members to share their favorite photos of the last ten years, as well as any photos that carry a special memory of your experience on this site. We look forward to seeing your photos and reading your comments!

Finally, my sincere thanks to the entire NPN staff for your tireless effort in making NPN as good as it is. Without you - and the participation of our members - this would be just another URL on the Internet.

We hope you enjoy this special anniversary edition!

Hello Jim, Donna and Richard

Wow, what an honour to have one of my images chosen for this very special edition of NPN. I have been an NPN member myself now for nearly five years and have met many new friends and learnt so much about nature photography along the way. NPN really is the best place for Top nature photography. Congratulations Guys.

Danny, thanks for being a part of it!

Not only is your grey seal pup an outstanding wildlife photo, but it also tells a story of adversity and hardship in the quest for survival. In many ways, it mirrors the story of survival of NPN over the last 10 years and the determination it has taken to keep it going. With that in mind, it was "a natural" for the 10th anniversary cover shot.

Thanks for posting it and thanks again for your participation!
