Our predictions of dates and precise times for moonbows in Lower
Yosemite Fall during 2006 are now posted on the web at
http://uweb.txstate.edu/~do01/
This web site also has links related to our previous prediction of
the Autumn Moon Encore at Glacier Point, Yosemite, on September 15,
2005.
Let me know if anything in our table of moonbow predictions is
unclear.
Digital moonbow photographs are especially helpful if the camera's
internal clock is set accurately using the USNO Master Clock at
http://tycho.usno.navy.mil/what.html
and
http://tycho.usno.navy.mil/cgi-bin/timer.pl
Photographs (film or digital) that include part of the sky are also very helpful, because the positions of the stars act as a celestial clock.
We will use observations from 2006 to check and to refine our
computer programs, then we hope to have a more formal publication
with predictions about moonbows just before the spring of 2007,
using photographs from past years and from 2006.
