SEO
This was my first ever SEO sighting and it was such a tragedy that it died 2 days later. As it was hunting near to a busy road, I guess a glancing blow from a car might have injured it.

7D, 500mm, 1.4x
f5.6, 1/1000, ISO 400

This is about 1/3 of the total frame area - bottom left of the canvas is the bottom left of the frame.

Thanks for looking and more shots here for those interested.

Big congrats on your first SEO shot Tim, I'm still waiting for mine. Such a shame about the owl being killed too.

Awful news re the SEO being killed Tim, were the rings (if any) or body, retrieved and sent to BTO etc ?

Excellent shot, one of my favourite species of Owl, tricky to get decent shots of, and to find as well ! Specially when they dont return to the same site every year while over wintering.

Such a shame that so many owls are killed in this way. A beautiful shot from your first SEO encounter!

Thanks for your comments. Ian, the bird wasn't ringed. I believe the Hawk and Owl Trust was contacted about the body but it's been left to filter back into the food chain.

Great shot, the inclusion of some typical habitat adds to the image :toast:
