Still ploughing through a huge backlog of Antarctic pictures. This one is of an adelie penguin that slipped on the ice.

Cracking shot Duncan. Even better is the fact that I have the same gear so I can see what is possible! :toast: :jump:

Great capture. I would prefer a little more space on the right of the picture, but realise that it is not always possible in these situations.

Well caught bit of action and I echo Davids comments.

Well controlled for the black and whites albeit a slight loss of detail in the head at this size and I agree with David, it really does need more space on the RHS. Great image nonetheless and made me smile..

Great pose captured.
I'd be interested to see what the original looked like before cropping.
I also agree with David Sewell's comment, but would add that as an image (not as a competition entry) it has all we should want in a photo of humorous behaviour. :toast: :toast: :toast:

Great expression on the Penguin's face. Agree with David S regarding a bit more room on the right (if possible). Nicely exposed. Good comical action shot. Well done. :toast:

Duncan

A superb capture and dual control of the Black and White is spot on. I see extra space suggestion but you get what you can and this shot works fine.

Nice capture at just the right moment Duncan :toast:

I would like to see a bit more space on the right but realise that its not always possible

Nice moment well captured. I agree re the space right but this is the sort of image that tells a great story and doesn't necessarily rely on everything being 100% spot on.

Cheers,
Chris

Many thanks for the comments.

As far as the RHS goes ideally I would have had more but I'd been busy shooting more conventional portrait-orientated shots of the bird when it slipped without warning. I managed to follow it for this shot but didn't have time to shift from portrait to landscape orientation. So the only crop on the image is from the top of some more of the rather featureless sky. Can't have everything I guess.

Would agree with David Sewell re the framing and agree sometimes its not always in our control.
