Hello everyone,
I'm considering buying a new computer with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I have photoshop CS3 have read conflicting information on the web about whether cs3 will work properly on this newer operating system.
Do any of you have personal experience with this particular combination? I'd appreciate some feedback/advice.
It should work fine - no reason to think it wouldn't. You will only be running in 32-bit mode, though, so you won't be able to take advantage of lots of RAM. I know of some folks running CS3 on Windows 7, and haven't heard of any problems.
Jason, you can run CS3 in a number of modes (Vista SP2, XP SP3, etc) even if you DID have issues, but you shouldn't. Are you waiting for CS5 to upgrade Photoshop? You really do want CS4 or CS5, Camera Raw in CS4 (and CS5 coming) is hugely better with that local Adjustment Brush, worth the price of admission. Also, the Dodge & Burn tools in CS4 and later are totally re-designed, allowing you much better-looking edits. The CS4 Bridge is way better too, allowed me to create a workflow for sorting and filing that pretty much saves me from having to buy Lightroom for assett management. For pete's sake, I sound like an Adobe salesman...

I have Windows 7 and CS3 works as does CS 4. Some of the plug ins do not yet work in the 64 bit versions so I am choosing to live without them. I think if if in loading the programs you put in the 32 bit and 64 bit the plugins will work in 32 bit.
I imagine that thos companies will get a fix in place somewhat soon.
