I'm coming up to the Olympics/North Cascades around the 1st week of May with another couple NPN buddies. We're all from the Albuquerque area so waterfalls are not something that we get to photograph on a regular basis. The question is with all of the snowfall this year will the flow rate at that time be just too much for good waterfall photography? I know it's a pretty general question but any help would be appreciated for our planning purposes.

Richard, I think it will really vary greatly depending on which stream you are shooting on. There are some that even during the later months have huge outputs, as there are in the Spring. The time frame you are coming will ensure fresh foliage on the bushes and trees - so it seems to be a real balancing act on when to be there. This is my Spring to hit the very same subject since I spent so much time in the SW last year..

Provia 400 F, push 1 or 2 stops. Watch your contrast & experiment a lot. I've heard that tungsten film has a wider range of f-stops, 6 as compared with 4 from the usual slide films. Anyone have any experience with this? I'm waiting to try some.....
