Pheasant (with tail)
A little different from the normal flight shots I take of pheasants. Usually there's a blue sky as a background and the bird is shot from underneat.
I was trying some slower shutter speed flight shots to try to get a sense of movement with a little panning.
Easy to get a handle on where birds will fly at this time of year, as soon as you see the dominant cock starting to chase a sub dominant one you know to focus on the sub dominant one.

As you say, a little different to the normal flight shots you see of this species. I like the bird itself, but do feel that you need to do something to reduce the noise in the background.

As you say John, away from the norm and not always that easy to get a shot like that. I think your choice of BG is spot on, blue sky is a bit...

Could you try at say f/4 to get a cleaner image & more blurred BG which would help SS too? Just a thought.

Nice flight shot John and as already mentioned a different background :toast:

The background looks a bit noisy but no big deal.

That's a really well executed flight shot John. It's not a common view of a pheasant in flight and i would be very happy with that. Maybe it is a little noisy which is a shame but it would be a lot easier to fix than it was to get that shot.

Well done.
There's usually a big bang when they do this around here   :frown: :frown:
