Didn't know whether to post this image to be honest the light wasn t good to me it was a very stark cloudy morning when I tried for the owl.But to see this one so close up as it is virtually full frame just a tad off the left, was absolutely breath taking for me,they are so beautiful and I think I have become addicted to them.I am not a genius at pp and don t know what else I could do with it so will appreciate your opinions.I was surprised to see I had a shutter of 1/640 to be honest as it was quite gloomy and he would have had to perch on a wonky post, just my luck. Its my first time photographying these birds and have really enjoyed my experience

Sadly 'Kaz' the light is against you as you say, however any brighter and you would have issues holding the soft whites of the BO and find yourself burning them out. Also this looks like a far sized crop, as the fine detail & clarity in the body and facial area isn't quite there. The subtle colours of the BG are quite nice and sympathetic to the BO and I would like to see more of the post he/she is standing on, as it's a little tight I feel.

Would be good to know on future posts how much of a crop there is on the image, as this would help feedback and inform the viewer to gather there thoughts & comments. Avoiding any crops will help & improve your photography.

thanks Stephen I did say though it was near enough full frame so there is no more post to be seen else I would have cropped it a lot different,so no crop on this one

Karen

If its anything like me you takes what you get and makes the best of it. :jump:
Pre planning has a habit of flopping for me.

A very nice capture and best use of the prevailing conditions.

They are never easy Karen, a few clicks of the shutter and they are off, leaving the heart racing and hope the they will be back soon, nice shot.

For me the lighting is perfect as it has allowed you to retain all the detail in the whites - super image. :toast: :toast:
