#1 - Sunset on the Guadalupe escarpment - 3 image stitch
When driving from Denver to Houston, I like to take the longer, more scenic route past the Guadalupes. For any of you visiting Carlsbad Caverns, I highly recommend spending a little extra time exploring these Texas hills, just south of the border.
#5 - I enjoyed watching this low bank of white clouds build, as the sunset set the sky ablaze above them.

Bill, those are awesome! Especially 4+5.
The Guads are one of my favorite parks and a photographers dream. The different views/eco systems there make it a place with alot of different photographic possibilities.
Sidenote, if anyone is ever thinking of going there, check out the article I wrote on them here for NPN and heck, invite me along!
The first 3 are my favourite, with #1 slightly edging ahead. What an amazing place, thanks for sharing!.

Fantastic series! The first two are such classic landscapes, but then you go and break the mold with the last three. Those cloudscapes are positively exciting to a cloud guy like me!
Wow ! what a wonderful set of images. Liked the first 3 images the most.

I like the first and its lighting, and it makes me wonder why I never stopped to hike there when I used to drive between Texas and Arizona many times a year.

#1, #2 & #5 are my favorites of these, although they are all nice. Looks like yet another place I should add to my ever-growing list of places to visit...someday.

Todd, thanks for pointing out my error. I guess I'll have to go with the official Park Service spelling.
When it comes to clouds, I seem to be jinxed in West Texas. Blue skies just keep following me around. These were the rare, delightful exception.

But you left out a section on the geology! At the boulder field, it's great to imagine a yourself as a scuba diver looking up at the Great Permian Barrier Reef.
I haven't made it to the Williams Ranch yet, but I did visit the gypsum dunes. I found out about the gate key through a casual conversation with a ranger. You're right, they don't exactly advertise the access to those areas.
On my To-Do list is climb Guadalupe Peak for a view of El Capitan from above.

Ah yes, and the Permian Basin has made many an oil man rich.
P.S. What error? I don't see no stinkin' error!

Bill, ll
These images will do any Texan proud......these are all excellent and I wish I had done them....sadly, having lived in Texas all my life, I have only visited this area once as a child. Thanks again.....makes me want to go. Colorado is closer to me!

Great series, Bill! I think the first and last are my favorites, but I like them all.

I highly recommend spending a little extra time exploring these Texas hills
Eh, they may be hills to you, but to Texans they are the closest thing we have to MOUNTAINS!
Very nice series indeed!

I really enjoyed these images. It's been quite a few years since I was last able to hike the McKittrick Canyon trail, and it's on my to-do list to get back there again someday. One of my favorite places.
Great shots! I'm a huge fan of #2!!!! In the first shot I wouldn't have minded some more sky. Not quite enough right-to-left interest for a pano format, imo.

You organize pictorial information well, the clouds in #5 really pop. The pp looks good.

There's some beautiful work here, Bill. I think overall #1 is my fav, but the sky shots are pretty amazing.

Bill, the color in these is outstanding. I am loving 1 and 3 the most. The bark shot is just WOW with color.

Bill, Awesome shots. I like them all and was a great series. My favorite is #1. I do like the dramatic clouds in #4. I should have been born a Storm Chaser :)

Driving through this was rather scary. I had to pull over several times because the visibility was so bad.

I like 'em all, but the first is my favorite, with the next two very close behind.
The pano. crop works well with those first two.
I may never make it to this place, so I appreciate you sharing these here.
