Red Grouse,in evening light. + repost.
Taken at the foot of the Lammermuir Hills,in the Scottish Borders.
Canon 1D Mk11N,500+1.4 canon lens,1/200 f5.6,and iso400.

I've posted a second version with virtually no sharpening and there is still a certain amount of halo there.Could this just be down to the light being more behind the bird and therefore being more of a rimlight?I've also warmed it up a touch.Hopefully improved?

Beautiful lighting. I can almost hear him from here :toast:

Lovely picture Phil. Great pose and background. Like Marcus says, you can almost hear him calling. Only nit is that around the top of the head and the back is a sharpening halo. Just pull it back slightly and this will dissapear. regards, Ian :toast:

The halo doesn't bother me, I put it down to the beautiful lighting. Very atmospheric indeed.

Hello Phil.

Beautiful light and colour in this and the halo or backlite does'nt bother me, which you could always clone out but I would leave it as is.

The only nit for me would be just a little more ground has I find the Grouse alittle close to the bottom of the frame.
