Weathering Another Snow Storm
This is an image i'm trying to get opinions on. It's an image that speaks to me, but maybe only me, i'm not sure. I shot it as a snow storm came out of nowhere while snowshoeing on Hood. I used a short DOF to put the focus on the tree, and a high shutter speed to freeze the snow falling. In the original the texture of the snow falling adds a nice feel for me as well as the layering of the trees receding into the distance.

It's not as spectacular of an image as some of my others, but it has a quiet wilderness feel that draws me in. I'm planning on shooting this scene again when it's colder and there is snow on the trees.

Would like to see more/bigger flakes so the falling snow has more impact on the mood of the scene. Snow on the trees could help also. The comp isn't doing a lot for me. It seems that by centering the foremost tree, you were trying to emphisize it but it's still not quite removed enough from the surroundings IMO. Make any sense?

Zack,
The bare twigs stickinng out of the snow along with the trees being bare of snow probably is the reason for you not beinnnng sure about this image. Iit is nice but not up to your usual high standards. IMHO :toast:

Thanks for your comments guys. I agree with you guys, the twigs at the bottom do bother me, I think some fresh snow and frost might solve that. The comp has potential I think, but Marc, you're right it needs work. I think I'll head back after fresh snow and see what I can do with it.

Like the others have suggested this location has plenty of potential but this image isn't grabbing me either. Keep at it Zack, you'll come home with a keeper from here for sure!!
