Getting back to doing sport today, so the pheasants will be taking a back seat for a while.
Possibly my favourite from what I've taken this year, but by no means difficult or different.

Possibly the best to date John, If you have any more room either side then add it, as I feel the pheasant is a tad tight in the area. Annoying bit of bracken in the foreground just by the left leg, but it's as shot so...

Why not John, when they are as good as this.

I have read so many times that head on shots don't work, well this one does the colours are spot on.

I wish you hadn't said this wasn't difficult to get. I've got loads of shots of them doing this, but they never face me while they do it. For some reason they always do it when they are too close or too far away as well. You undersell yourself. It's a beauty. eric

Lovely head on shot and I agree, you do undersell yourself.
I think I might have cloned out that bit of bracken in front.
Excellent shot of a pheasant - I find them very difficult despite seeing plenty of them. For me, the background makes the shot. I wish the foreground were a bit more diffuse/mushy.

Very nice indeed. The head-on viewpoint works a treat and the light catching the birds side adds an extra dimension.
