Overwhelming urge
The real reason I went up 285 2 weeks ago was because I had an overhwelming urge to walk in an aspen forest. Has that ever happened to any of you? After stopping to shoot the snow shelf along the South Platte River, I continued to the top of Kenosha Pass and walked back into the aspen forest on the Colorado Trail for a ways. It was just what I was looking for. No one else was there the whole time I was on the trail. I found this stand which was much more open a mile or so up. It had to be B&W because of the late morning light. I hope I do it some justice with my conversion.

Comments and critiques always welcome, and thanks for looking,

PS: For a much more different approach, if you have time, you might check out my post on the Photo Art forum.

Morris, I love this shot! The mood reminds me of camping alone with just myself and nature. B&W was a good choice IMO. :toast:

Justice indeed! Looks great, Morris. I'm unsure of having the little sprout in the foreground, but what the hell do I know?

Great shot Morris! any chance you took any panos of the scene without the foreground?

Nicw work Morris. BW treatment is perfect. Would leave the "twig" in foreground as it provides an entry to the frame.

Wondering if its my vision or is the image leaning left?

Thanks Kurt and Joel.
TC, thanks and I'm not sold on the comp either. It was such a great fulfillment of that urge that there is a lot of emotional connection tied up in this one, and maybe not as much discernment as should be.
Thanks Jeremy, why weren't you with me to make such great suggestions while I was there?
Thanks, Bill, I did use my bubble level as I usually do, but since I'm a half a bubble off anyway, it could be.

Like the symmetry and feeling of depth in this one. B&W looks like a good choice. Not sure about the tree on the LHS border. A little pincushion distortion and/or tilted horizon as the trees are leaning on the left side. Looks like one that would be worth a bit more work to get it just right. Well done.
