It's been a while since I went out to try and find Barn Owls, but driven by some great pics on here recently I ventured out yesterday evening.
I was caught out a bit by the rapidly setting sun, and when it dipped behind cloud just at the time I was setup ready to go I was sure the approaching darkness would foil me again. That, and the lack of any Owls!
Right on cue though, and seemingly out of nowhere, one appeared on a post to my left. I managed to grab a few frames, and then it was off again. But, I was happy as the 'photographic gods' had smiled on me.
Not exceptional, in fact quite ordinary, and quite noisy so I've run it through Noise Ninja. I'm still not sure what I'm doing processing wise, but I think I was pushing it with the light. My camera lens sees much better than I do, that's for sure! But, glad I made the effort to get out. Better than the telly anyway!!
Keep up the work folks, your pics are inspiring!

A good effort, and as you say beats watching television anyday

Agree with above, looks a bit 'cold' on this works screen and could possibly be a tad sharper. If it were mine I'd be tempted to try a crop from lhs to take the edge of the image up to the LHS of the second post. That would take out the light coloured piece alongside the post which I find drags the eye a bit. Still a well caught capture under the conditions.

Thanks all for your help and comments, I'm trying to take it all on board.
I've had a go at cropping and increasing the saturation a tad, and also tried to make the owl a little sharper although I don't think there's much I can do about that bit!
Apologies anyway for bumping this up to the top, I just thought it rude not to reply!!
