Brown hare portrait #2
Hi All

One from couple of weeks a go. As with the previous hare shot I posted, I was really surprised just how close the animal came - the resulting composition is a little tight but hopefully just about works.

Cheers, C&C welcome,
Chris

1D4, 500 mm + 2x, ISO 400, 1/125 @ f/8, beanbag on the ground, no crop.

Big, bold, sharp, good eye contact and the right colour, spot on hare picture for me, perhaps a little more canvas on the left but that’s just a personal view.

Bob.

Hi Mark
I've not been out with the 1D4 since my recent hare shots so the response I posted on my previous hare image still stands. A friend of mine reported that his 1D4 and 500 mm + 1.4x combination turned in a really poor hit-rate in bright snow conditions while shooting mountain hare. However, he went on to say it was much better over all than his 1D3. Jury still out?
Cheers,
Chris

lovely image maybe a bit more room on the left

Another excellent portrait Chris. Although the hare is looking left I don't think on this particular image any extra space that side would really enhance the shot (not unless you were to change the whole feel of the image by making the hare smaller). No, I like it fine as it is.

Great portrait. Composition works for me - don't agree at all with the 'more space on left' critique.
My hare project will be in full swing in about a weeks time and if I get a few shots like this I'll be more than happy.
Well done :toast:

Works for me on all levels too. Feels like an intimate shot :toast:

Chris, lovely sharp portrait with great detail. Not fussed about having more space for the hare to look into but something about the framing that makes the photo look tall and narrow - maybe a squarer crop might overcome that impression ........

Yep, this is great. The eye and ears look so sharp and the light is lovely. You've inspired me, I'm going out to see my nearest ones right now :toast:

Excellent Chris in terms of sharpness eye contact BKGR etc. It might crop even tighter as you have not been able to get whole subject in the frame.

Hello Chris.

Excellent portrait and love the back look and the composition is just right for a frame filling image.
