A simple tank set-up to offer a studio approach to this 'in-the water' activity..

Kind regards,

Brett

I like that a lot Brett. Very graphic, eye catching and detailed. Composition is great, the line of the surface water really adds to the interest factor. Great picture.

Great variation Brett, Really a picture that you can look at and marvel about these toads - look how long the legs are on the darker one! :toast:

Very different. It kind of reminds me of a shot from one of those high street family photo franchises where everyone piles together against a white backdrop
Its a cracker :toast:

Hi Brett,
Love this picture, very well done. Was surprised to see that you did this outside, it really does look as though it was done in a studio.
Is it just me, but does the top one look a lot like a common frog?

Hi Brett,

The eyes were part of the reason why it looks like a common frog to me - they have a dark oval pupil with a bright gold rim that contrasts with the rest of the iris. And the hind leg digits look far too long for a common toad, but right for a frog. Frogs have a slightly warty skin too (though not as much as toads), and I've seen loads that are quite purple in colour. This picture on naturepl shows that frogs and toads sometimes grab the wrong thing in amplexus: http://www.naturepl.com/bin/npl.dll/go?a=disp&pt=1&t=us\sr-loadersearch.html&si=&usp=0&_spb=0&_spe=0&_spw=0&mw=2&_collection=&se=31&_filterori=&searchtext=common%20frog

That said, I wasn't there of course and its not so easy to tell from one photo in this position.
