Another DB Wildflower
Thanks to Bernie's post, I was inspired to share this image from yesterday morning. This one is more of an isolation shot - same species with a different feel to it. Comments appreciated.

40D, 100 macro, 1/100 @ f5.6, no flash.

Very nice, Brian...seldom do we get the chance to see DB isolated such as this. Good eye!

Thanks for the comments, Toni and Cindy, they are much appreciated! I had been shooting these beauties for a couple hours, moving down a trail towards a river, and stopping to shoot when and where I saw potential. It is indeed difficult to isolate the blossoms from the plant's leaves (and usually the brown leaf matter left over from the fall/winter is in the BG somewhere).

Then, along the riverbank, I saw these blossoms sticking up above the others, and I knew I could get a clear shot at them using the river as a clean BG if I could get low enough. With my tripod's legs splayed out, the camera just a couple inches off the ground, and laying on the ground to compose the shot, I managed to get the clean shot of these three blossoms I had envisioned. I thought of it as just another beautiful opportunity to bond (literally, physically and spiritually) with Mother Earth.

I like it, it's quite sparse w/o the leaves and other DBs.
