spent the weekend out in the San Juans to enjoy the melting snow.
BTW, all the mountains are very BROWN thanks to the latest UT dust storms...another ruined Spring snowpack...
This limited my wide angle shots.
When i was up at Camp Bird a couple winters ago, the road was buried under 20 ft of snow. This time it was plowed all the way to YB Basin! Mining ops are in full swing--lots of heavy equipment up there.
#1) Heres one of the creek--a fun little scramble down the banks to get there for sunrise. Vertical on ESS.
#1 and #6 are just excellent comps and your exposure is perfect in both. But #2 is blowing me away!

#s 3 & 4 are my favorites. I like the green colors and the abstract nature of #3 and the colors in the sky and the slight glow on Lizard Head are great on #4.
Great shots! three and four are my favorites as well. That lizards head looks like an amazing formation.

Nice work! I really like your thinking on #3. Glad you were artistically open to seeing it. Not sure I would've been. I also love the Lizard Head shot.
Bummer about the brown snow. I thought maybe last year could be a fluke, but it's been so windy lately, I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Maybe some late-season snow will come along and cover it up?

I really like the Lizard Head shot.
I'm so bummed about the dust again. I was looking forward to riding lots of spring lines in the SJs in May... I guess I'll just spend my time out in the desert instead.
Very nice set here Stan. #s 1 and 5 stand out to me due to the strong leading lines heading back to the peaks.
Regarding your comments about dust. The snow event a couple of weeks ago brought a lot of dust up to the Denver (dare I say the RMNP area). Looks like that event aided the melting across the northern mountains as well as the SJs.
Another terrific series from you!
#'s 3-6 are really creative compositions and the b&w works very well for #5.
That tree on the right looks like it's fighting this wind.
Gotta wonder how those fellows are doing at the Wave area today.
Last week, the snowpack was pink with the first winds of the year. Sorry to hear that it faded to brown.

Really nice series, Stan. I like the way you composed #6.

Really like the color and patters in #3. Great color in the first image as well.

Strong shots Stan! #2 is well composed and #4 is great as well!

4+5 are the ones that jump out at me. Especially going mono on #5.
Another vote for #3. Great colors and wonderful composition! You have any other abstracts from there?

Delighted that you shared this current series! Love #3 and #5. These are out of the ordinary and very intimate landscapes. The B&W, though expansive, has a quiet serenity and inviting, personal feel.

I too like the colors provided by the Cimmaron silt in #2.
The snow ridges and leaning fir of #5 B&W do provide some good lead up into the photo.
The UT dirt is showing well in the Lizard Head photo. It was quite windy here in Flagstaff yesterday as they shut down I-40 near Winslow due to blowing dust. More of UT may have made it to CO.
