Hawfinch - warning mush alert!

Hi all,

I've been trying this shot for a while now and I'm still not happy with it to be honest, but it is getting near to what I first envisaged. I would appreciate some views on this, although I realise its a marmite shot. I have quite a few standard portraits of this species now, so I'm trying different things.

Cheers,

Lewis.

Great light, I might have a go taking a 1/4 of the right side and bottom?

That is showing off Lewis, Most of us practice such variations with House Sparrows !

I really like the concept and agree with the crop bottom and right. Essentially, more bird and less mush would be my preference.

I too have never seen one of these. I really like this image Lewis, the composition is fine as it is. The diffused foreground and background really isolate the bird whilst also complimenting the colouring of the bird. First rate shot.

Very nice but agree about the tighter crop.

The crop is fine Lewis - a different approach that works well. The leaves compliment the bird's colouration and the differential focus combined with the low PoV add a nice feel of intimacy and intrigue. Congratulations.

Cheers,
Chris

I really like this just as it is. The colour palette is spot on the mush gives it a sense of mystery in a way. I never even seen one these.
