An early morning visit to the local pond resulted in nice light to capture the tranquility of the scene. On another day, it will be buzzing with activity. Comments and critique are always welcome

Ian, I like this a lot, the way you've caught the light on the swan's head and the reflection in the water particularly. Possibly a slight crop off the left and top?
I'm looking at this on a works monitor so that may well be the reason but this does look too light Ian. In particular, the white on the head looks blown. Knowing your previous stuff you have posted it may just be the monitor.
You're right! I exposed it deliberately to keep the whites near the right of the histogram. It was fine on the original, but something has happened I suspect on conversion for the web - I've darkened it a little.

Very moody - and welcome back from me too. Excellent comp. I have had the same thing happen to whites against pale backgrounds on compression when the original is fine.

Nice to see you posting again and very nice image to, with good composition.
I still feel it is a bit to light but I do like contrasty pictures si it might just be me.
Hope your feeling much better and keep them coming.
I like the space around the bird and the background cover
