Last July I had an interesting string of experiences up on Mount Evans. I wrote an essay about it back then, and I've been holding it back in hopes of getting it published somewhere. Funny thing about getting published: Did you know you have to actually send something to people in the publishing world to get it published? Who knew?!

Anyways, I offer it here, if you'd like a lengthy diversion on this windy afternoon. I'll add a few more thumbnails to it later, but you'll get the gist of it as is.

"A Special Kind of Stupid"

Enjoy!

That was a good read, Todd. You certainly filled your good deed for the day. I'm glad it ended without a trip to the hospital!

BTW: you need to work on your German phraseology - try "keine Scheiße"

Good read, indeed! Very entertaining! People can be so stupid.

Entertaining and a bit scary.
I'll bet this story repeats itself ad nauseum every year in one form or another.

Todd, Well done - an enjoyable, if disturbing, read. Incidentally, I have also written an article on Mount Evans, it and Pikes Peak. I wrote it for an RV magazine. Now, if I ever get around to sending it to them, they might well publish it. :)

Man are those kids lucky you were there! Unblelivable how people leave their kids entrusted to someone like that.

Nice work on this story Todd. I was tired and still couldn't stop reading until I found out what happenined. You did a great job of keeping my interest.
