A photographer friend of mine mentioned he heard of a place in southern Colorado (Pueblo area?) called Indian Paint Pots...an outcropping of hoodoos and such. Has anyone heard of it and do you know where it is?
Thanks.

I think I might have found it...called Paint Mines Interpretive Park, near Calhan. Anybody ever been there and what are your thoughts for photographing it...morning, evening?

The canyon runs north / south, so you tend to get long shadows cutting across it morning or evening. Evening might be slightly better because the more interesting rocks are along the east side of the canyon bottom. However, the best shots I got were with overcast light and storm clouds in the distance. Here's a couple of those shots:
Those are outstanding shots, Grant! I just went there for the first time about a month ago and I think Grant is right, Jack. The better formations are on the east side as he said, and evening would probably be better.
Yes, those are some nice shots Grant. If one is wanting cloudy conditions this weekend might be a good one to give it a try. Keep an eye on the forecast and maybe it will work out.

Thanks very much guys. I will put this on my short list of spring places to go especially since it's so close by.

I visited a couple weeks ago. I was mostly out for a motorcycle ride - arrived mid-day and spent a couple hours scouting. I posted an image of one of the larger hoodoos on my blog. There are lots of really interesting formations that would make very nice subjects with the right lighting.

They're in eastern CO, east of C. Springs.
